The grace of God is Jesus Christ

The grace of God is Jesus Christ

The grace of God is Jesus Christ
who came to reconcile all life,
to be the perfect fulfillment,
the everlasting covenant.
He beheld our lost condition
and devised a rescue mission.
He descends from his throne on high
that all sinners be justified.
He takes our human nature-form
so that all sinners be atoned.
Under the law He takes our place.
This is the essence of God's grace.
He takes the law and its demands, and for our trespasses was damned.
And by his pure obedience
he becomes the only penance.
Upon the cross he pays our loss,
all the forsakenness and dross.
It is finished, the work is done.
No other work, but God the Son.
After three days the tomb is bare.
The savior is no longer there.
Behold his hands, his feet, his side.
He is risen, we're justified!
And at the throne he intercedes
on our behalf His righteous deeds.
His grace and mercy does bestow
to be received by faith alone.
Praise the Father who sent the Son. Praise the Son who our ransom won.
Praise the Spirit who through the means
creates the faith that does receive.
What shall I fear when death does come?
I have all I need in the Son.
Engraven this upon my heart:
The Lord my righteousness, thou art. Amen.
