Jesus be with us in these days
Verse
Jesus be with us in these days,
so many have gone away.
Taking your gospel and your grace
and throwing it in your face.
They view your cross as weak and shame.
They seek no comfort in your name.
There is no love within them.
Verse
Your gospel they view as foolish,
having no place on their dish.
Your mercy to them is weakness.
They seek to just extinguish
any mention of grace and love
and replace it with sword and club;
slaying even your faithful.
Verse
Your grace is seen as too easy
and fits not in their preaching.
“How could anything here be free
with no payment made by me?
And for the world, for all mankind?”
This free grace is to them a crime.
It does not fit in their mind.
Verse
Their pulpits preach money, power,
and ruling over others.
Your cross they use as a weapon
a tool of terrorism.
As if your blood was not enough,
they seek to spill more in the dust.
Your grace spewed out of their mouth.
Verse
They serve an idol made of gold
like in the wilderness old.
They preach of merit and of might
and spark not comfort, but fright.
They bring to others destruction
stumbling blocks of great damnation.
They reject the grace given.
Verse
Be with us Jesus Christ we pray
as they bring forth these dread days.
Comfort us with your gospel grace while we run our temporal race.
Though they take all under Heaven
they can't rob us of your Kingdom.
In your name we pray, Amen!
