Grace and Mercy, Greatest Treasures

Grace and Mercy, Greatest Treasures

Grace and Mercy, greatest treasures
that God has poured without measure
upon the world of sinners.
The Law condemns us for our sins,
there is no one of perfection,
so Christ came, Himself giving.
He gave to save
us from our sins; He is risen,
calls us to live in grace and mercy like He did.
The Law condemns us all to die.
By it no one is justified.
No righteousness found inside.
A mirror showing all our sins
and the wrath we accrued from them.
No hope of gaining heaven.
Forsook, our works
cannot merit or inherit
peace and favor. We are in need of a savior.
So Jesus Christ, the Word, came down
wearing no royal garment, crown,
but taking a servant's form.
The perfection that we have failed
He assumes that Grace may prevail.
He's the only one able.
Our debts He met
and paid in full, enduring hell
to redeem us. By Him we are declared righteous.
Crucified for sins that we've done
and raised to prove we're forgiven,
completing our redemption.
And at the throne He intercedes
on our behalf His righteous deeds,
Mercy flowing like a stream.
“Father Father,
look not upon their sins and wrongs,
but look at them through me, your Son, who was given.”
The Spirit through the written word
tells of this Grace for all the world,
the mercies of God our Lord.
Through this Gospel Grace, He creates
the saving faith that simply takes
and all the Mercies ours makes.
We find divine
Grace and Favor in the scripture.
Where else could we ever find such love that saved me?
Let us go forth doing good deeds
to our friends and our enemies
as proof that love has born thee.
Not to merit Grace or favor,
that work was done by the Savior;
but in love, serve each other.
Do good, we should.
Mercy, kindness, and forgiveness
to friend and foe just as God did for all the world.
If God had such great compassion,
how could I refuse to show man
the same gift God had given?
By your fruits they shall know your love,
be tender, harmless as a dove
just like our Lord up above.
Jesus loved us.
May this Gospel quicken our souls
to show to all Grace and Mercy until we're called. Amen.
